Hello. I’m Christine,
(a.k.a., your writing guide).
When I meet someone new and they ask me to tell them about myself, I freeze a bit. Sum up my entire self in a sentence (or two)? Kind of a daunting task. So I typically default to my profession (“I’m an editor” or “I have my own writing and editing business”). But that’s only one small aspect of myself.
The same goes for the About Page of this site. I found this section the most difficult to write! What do current and perspective clients want to know about me? My credentials? (I do list those below, if you’re interested.) My services? (You can learn more about those here.) My experience with previous clients? (I’ve peppered this site with a few testimonials.)
Yes, you probably are curious about those things, but I often find the best relationships I form with my clients are ones that connect us as humans. I have this annoying habit of becoming part of my clients’ lives, as I get to know them. So maybe it would help to know a bit about my personality…
I enjoy…
🐚 Spending time at the beach any chance I get
🏄🏻♀️ Paddleboarding
👩🏻🌾 Gardening
👣 Long walks
🌤️ Being outside as much as possible
🏊🏻♀️ Swimming
❄️ Curling up with a good book & a cuppa during a winter storm
🎲 (Some) Boardgames
I love…
☕️ Coffee
🌳 Trees
🌊 The ocean (my DNA is part salt water, after all!)
💐 Tulips
👚 Linen
🍋 Lemon flavoured anything (exception: lemon meringue pie)
🕯️ Candles
🪴 Plants
That gives you a bit of an idea about me. I’m also a mom of 2 humans, 3 dogs, and a guinea pig, so I’m rarely (never?) bored. I’ve included my official bio that I give to others when asked below, in case that piques your interest. But, really, if you want to learn more about me, I invite you to contact me directly. I offer a free 20-min consult by Zoom (or phone, if that is your preference), so reach out and let’s get to know one another!
My Official Bio
I’ve been helping academics, researchers, educators, small business owners, and authors share their message with the world for 20 years. I have a long list of clients from all around the world, and I’ve become quite well versed in timezone.
Whether it’s a science fiction manuscript or web copy for an insurance agency, my unique ability is reading a piece of writing through various lenses to connect the writer’s message to what the reader needs to hear. This is true for both my author and my corporate clients. I draw on empathy and heart to guide writers from start to finish.
I have a particular fondness for life writing and memoir writers, but I also work with writers of all genres.
When I’m not helping other people with their words, I like to write my own. I’m a published author with Breakwater Books (based in my original home of Newfoundland), and I’m a member of the PEI Writers’ Guild (where I sat on the Board of Directors in various roles, including President) and the Writers Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador—both of these organizations keep me connected to the literary landscape of both my beuatiful homes. Being both editor and author gives me perspective on both sides of the manuscript, and I often incorporate my own lessons learned as an author into my editing work.
I live in Cornwall, Prince Edward Island, where I share my home with my husband, our two daughters, three ridiculous dogs, and one chill guinea pig.
Education:
- MA Women’s History (Merit) – Royal Holloway, University of London, UK
- BA English (Honours) – University of Prince Edward Island
- Various editing courses from Ryerson University, Editors Canada, ACES, and independent editors across the globe
Memberships:
- Editors Canada
- ACES: The Society for Editing
- Prince Edward Island Writers’ Guild
- Writers’ Alliance of Newfoundland & Labrador
- Writers Union of Canada
My non-working time is often spent with my family, in nature, or cuddled up somewhere comfy with a book…a dog or three usually lying on my feet. I hopped from one Island shore (Newfoundland) to a less-rocky one (PEI), so the ocean is very much a part of my soul.
I love to sink my toes into sand (I’m blessed to live near numerous beaches). The smell of freshly brewed coffee makes my heart sing. Giving people gifts makes me giddy. And the shoes I most often wear are my slippers.
Mostly, I’m a pretty low-fuss, easy-going person who loves books and cheering on other authors.

Above all, I value, Honesty, Trust, Dependability, Authenticity, & Connection.
